To treat: Frizz
Try: Honey "Natural humectants like honey are lifesavers when taming dry, snarled hair," says Mauricio Cifuentes of the Mauricio Hair Studio in New York City, who supplied all of these recipes. "They help your hair hold onto the moisture from conditioning treatments." Honey mask 1 Tbsp honey ¼ cup conditioner Swirl honey into conditioner, then work the mixture evenly into clean, damp hair. Cover your head with a plastic cap and leave on for 15 minutes (the heat trapped underneath the cap helps hair absorb the moisture). Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

To treat: An oily scalp
Try: Peppermint "The mint acts as an astringent, helping to get rid of excess oil," says Cifuentes. Peppermint tea rinse 3 peppermint tea bags ½ cup hot water Steep the tea bags in the water for several minutes. ("The rinse has to be very concentrated to work its magic," says Cifuentes.) Let cool. Use in the shower after you've finished shampooing, applying to your scalp with a soaked cotton ball. Leave on for 5 minutes, then rinse and condition as usual.

To treat: Damaged hair
Try: Rosemary There's some evidence that herbal essential oils—like those found in rosemary—encourage new hair growth. "It's your secret stimulant," says Cifuentes. Rosemary tonic Handful of fresh rosemary 4 cups boiling water Pour water over rosemary and allow to steep for 20 minutes. Strain out the leaves and, once cool, pour the herb-infused water into a spray bottle. After shampooing, follow up by spritzing the tonic all over clean, wet hair, concentrating on your roots. Comb through and leave in for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse. Follow with conditioner. See also: 5 Fast Ways to Make Your Hair Healthier

Dry Hair? Seal in moisture
"Twice a week, swap your daily conditioner for an intensive hair mask," says Ursula Stephen, celebrity stylist for Motions hair-care line. Look for one with hydrating ingredients like glycerin, shea butter or coconut oil high on the list. They will lock in moisture, condition and ultimately strengthen your strands.

Eat more walnuts
These healthy nuts, as well as flaxseeds, salmon and avocado, do more than just jazz up your salad. "They're rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are found naturally in the oils along your scalp. They'll help maintain a moisture barrier to protect against dryness," says Stephen. Bonus: Hydrated hair is less likely to frizz.
