How many calories in cabbage?

Vegetables are considered low-calorie foods. However, they also have their own energy value, which varies depending on what kind of product it is and how it is cooked.

For example, how many calories are in cabbage? Let's see what is the caloric content of different cabbages and dishes prepared from it.

Raw cabbage

For example, we give the caloric content of different types of cabbage per 100 g of product in ascending order:

  • Beijing (Chinese) cabbage - 12 kcal;
  • white cabbage - 27 kcal;
  • red cabbage - 25-27 kcal;
  • Savoy cabbage - 28 kcal;
  • cauliflower - 30 kcal;
  • Broccoli - 34 kcal;
  • Kohlrabi - 42 kcal;
  • Brussels sprouts - 43 kcal.

Cabbage Dishes

Oddly enough, but, for example, the caloric content of pickled white cabbage is less than that of fresh. It is 23 kcal per 100 g of product. But the cabbage, past the heat treatment, is more calorie. Increase its energy value of the additives used for cooking: tomato, butter or vegetable oil, as well as a decrease in the volume of the finished product.

To calculate the caloric content of cabbage in the finished dish, you can use the formula: volume (weight) of fresh cabbage minus 40% multiplied by the caloric content of the product for 100 g and divided by 100.

For example, for 700 g of white cabbage:

  1. 700 g - 40% = 420 g;
  2. 420 g x 27 kcal = 11340;
  3. 11340: 100 = 113.4 kcal.

It turns out that having extinguished 700 g of cabbage, we get a dish calorie 113 kcal. Naturally, when adding oil or other additives to the dish, you need to take into account the caloric content of these products.
