The cylinder is a pressurized vessel made from seamless metal steel pipes. - from 5 to 12 liters - can hold no more than 2 kg of liquefied gases;
- from 12 to 27 liters - holds no more than 3.3 kg of liquefied gases;
- from 27 to 30 liters - holds no more than 11.4 kg of liquefied gases;
- from 30 and more - holds no more than 21.1 kg of liquefied gases.
How much compressed gas can there be?
It is much more difficult to calculate the amount of compressed gas in the cylinder, since here, among other things, it is necessary to take into account the pressure.
Below are data on the main, most common types of technical gases, filled into cylinders under normal conditions, according to the pressure set by GOST:
- oxygen: 40 liters - 6.3 cubic meters - 8.3 kg;
- nitrogen: 40 liters - 5.7 cubic meters - 7.5 kg;
- Argon: 40 liters - 6.3 cubic meters - 7.5 kg;
- carbon dioxide: 40 liters - 6.0 cubic meters - 20-24 kg;
- propane: 50 liters - 9.5 cubic meters - 21.5 kg;
- helium: 40 liters - 5.7 cubic meters - 1 kg.
Acetylene is widely used in various welding machines, as well as for the manufacture of acetic acid, ethyl alcohol, solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons, etc.
Due to the fact that this substance has the ability to explosive self-decomposition under high pressure, it is usually mixed with various liquids for transportation, mainlywith organic solvents. The resulting solution is much less explosive. Acetylene is prohibited by law to use under pressure above 1.5 atm.
So, for example, with acetone, at an ambient temperature of 15 ° C and at normal atmospheric pressure, acetylene is mixed at the rate of 1 liter of acetone to 23 liter of acetylene.
