How to build a fence from a professional sheet with your own hands
The technology of building fences with the use of profiled sheet is relatively simple. But in order for such a fence to turn out neat and durable, when erecting it is necessary, of course, to follow certain rules and technologies.
What materials will be required
In addition to the professional sheet itself, for the construction of such a fence you will need:
- shaped tubes for pillars;
- pipes for crossbars;
- a large number of screws;
- reinforcement, cement, sand and crushed stone for the construction of the foundation.
The professional leaf for fences usually get intended for a covering of walls. Such material is marked with the letter C. The sheets of this type are cheaper than roofing and at the same time they are able to withstand quite serious wind loads.
Most often for construction of fences the professional sheet 0.45-0.5 mm thick is used. Sometimes the areas are enclosed with the use of material with a thickness of 0.35-0.40 mm. However, such a thin sheet is allowed to be used for assembling fences only in light windy areas.
When choosing a professional sheet, it is important to pay attention, among other things, to the height of its wave. The more often winds blow in this particular area, the more it should be. For example, if the site is located in a steppe region on a mountain, the wall profiled sheet with a wave height of 10-20 mm will be the best option for assembling a fence for it. That is, in this case, the material should be purchased, marked as C10 or C20.
The pipe for the manufacture of racks is usually taken profiled section 60x60 mm with a wall thickness of 2-3 mm. Crossbars are most often made of the same material with a section of 40x25 mm with a wall thickness of 2 mm.
Cement for the construction of the foundation of the fence is suitable for the same brands that are used to fill the foundations of houses. Sand for kneading the solution is best to take a large river.
Unfortunately, it often happens that the profiled pipes are supplied from warehouses that are already slightly rusted. To use them in this form to assemble the fence, of course, impossible. Pre-pipe must be cleaned of rust. It is best to perform this procedure using a grinder with a brush head.
The cleaned pipe, among other things, will also need to be treated with an anti-corrosion compound and painted. If the fenced area has a large area, it is best to paint the supporting columns of the fence in dark color. In this case, the pipes in the future will be less noticeable dirt.
The pipes of the fence, which is not too long, are usually painted to match the professional sheet used. In this case, the dark supports will stand out too much against the background of the skin, attract attention and spoil the appearance of the fence.
How to make a project
Before embarking on the construction of a fence from a professional sheet, you should, of course, draw up its drawings. In this case, you need to decide:
- with the height of the fence;
- installation pillar pillars;
- the depth of the foundation;
- the number of cross.
For example, the standard C20 professional sheet has a width of 1150 mm and a length of 2000 mm. Most often during the construction of the fence such material is placed vertically. That is, the height of the fence, taking into account the height of the basement of the foundation when using sheet C20, will be 2.3-2.5 m.
But if you wish, of course, you can save money and arrange the trim in the canvas horizontally.In this case, the height of the fence will ultimately most likely be 1.5–1.7 m. If such a fence seems to be too low for the owners, it can later be “extended”, for example, by fixing one or two rows of boards on the pillars.
The shaped pipe sold on the market usually has a length of 6 m. In most cases, it is cut into two equal parts for the manufacture of support pillars. Even taking into account the penetration into the ground of the support length of 3 m, most likely, it is quite enough to build a fence up to 2.5 -2.7 m in height. If the paneling will act a few tens of centimeters above the edge of the supporting pillars, nothing particularly terrible will happen.
The foundation of the fences from the profiled sheet is supposed to be buried below the ground freezing level. Otherwise, in the spring, due to the heaving of the soil, the fence may look sideways or even completely fall. Usually, the foundations of such structures are buried by about 90-120 cm.
For fixing the sheathing of the profiled sheet of fences, dwell up to 2.5 mm are usually installed two cross-beams - top and bottom. If the fence will have a greater height, you will have to install a third lag.
Marking under the fence of the profiled sheet is done using pegs or reinforcing rods and cord. Landmarks first set at the corners of the site. Then between pegs or rods around the perimeter of the tension cord.
Further, the landmarks are driven into the ground at the location of the supporting pillars:
- the canvas itself;
Cord for marking is best to take inelastic. Otherwise, the fence in the future may turn out curves.
Foundation filling and installation of supports
There are several ways to install fence posts from a professional sheet. Sometimes the supports of such structures are simply buried in drilled or dug pits and concreted, sometimes they use the method of bottling. But most often the fences of this variety are installed on strip foundations with a base height of 25-30 cm.
The advantage of tape bases is first of all the fact that with their use you can make the most durable fence. Pour such a foundation of the fence from a professional sheet as follows:
- around the perimeter of the plot, a trench is dug at a depth of 40-60 cm;
- crushed stone is poured on its bottom with a layer of 15 cm with a tamper;
- set the formwork of the boards;
- mount the reinforcement cage;
- pillars are installed in the trench with a depth of 40–60 cm into the drilled pits;
- connect columns with fittings;
- perform pouring concrete mix.
The posts in the trenches during the assembly of the fence should be installed vertically using the building level. The first is always mounted corner supports. Then, between their upper edges, they pull the cable. Next, focusing on the cable height, install intermediate pillars.
At the final stage, the top of each support pipe is plugged or covered with a decorative cover. If this is not done, rainwater will subsequently fall into the pillars, which will significantly reduce their lifespan.
It is possible to start assembling the fence frame from the profiled sheet no earlier than one month after the foundation is poured. The concrete of the base of the fence site must be fully mature.
Cross-barriers of professional sheets are usually mounted by welding. In this case, logs can be fixed both between the pillars and in front. The latter method is less time consuming and is used by owners of suburban areas when assembling fences most often.
If there is no welding apparatus in the farm, it is possible to fix lags on the supports by means of bolted joints. However, in this case, the owners of the suburban area will have to additionally purchase fasteners of a special design, called X-brackets.
Installation of a professional leaf
Cladding when assembling the fence on the frame is usually fixed with screws. In this case, they either use simply galvanized fasteners of this variety, or painted to match the chosen professional sheet.
Placing the sheets on the frame of the fence is usually in such a way that there is a gap of about 10-15 cm between their bottom edge and the foundation tape. When carrying out the cladding, among other things, they follow these rules:
- fasteners in cross-pieces through a professional sheet are screwed in steps of two waves;
- on the lower and upper crossbars, the screws are placed with a shift in one wave;
- The first sheet is set strictly according to the level;
The overlap between the sheets of cladding material during the assembly of the fence from a profiled sheet is usually done in a single wave. In this case, screws are screwed into the gap between the waves. Sheets are first fixed in the corners, after which the intermediate fasteners are screwed.
Gate and gate
After the fence is sheathed completely, proceed to the manufacture of gates and wickets.These elements of the construction of the fence are made about the following way:
- weld from the corner of the frame;
- weld stiffeners;
- install locking devices.
Next, the door frames and wickets prepared in this way are sheathed with a profile sheet using the same technology as the frame of the fence itself. At the final stage, they are welded to the supporting posts and hinge frames, after which they hang the gate leaves and the gate into place.
