Shawarma is a very popular oriental dish. It is not difficult to prepare shawarma, and this dish requires a small amount of ingredients. Therefore, if you decide to make shawarma at home, you will not spend a lot of time and effort, as long as you have a proven recipe at hand.

Required Ingredients

To make pita bread for shawarma, you need the following:

  • water - 100 ml;
  • egg - 1 pc .;
  • flour - 400 g;
  • salt - ½ tsp.

For the preparation of the filling you will need the following ingredients:

  • cabbage - 100 g;
  • chicken fillet - 250 g;
  • tomato - 150 g;
  • Korean carrot - 100 g;
  • cucumbers - 100 g;
  • salt and spices - to taste;
  • vegetable oil - 3 tbsp. l

You will also need to prepare a sauce for shawarma. For it is necessary to take:

  • ketchup - 100 g;
  • mayonnaise - 150 ml;
  • garlic - 1 clove;
  • parsley and dill - for ½ bunch.

Step 1: Cooking Dough

First you need to make pita bread. Break the egg into a deep bowl. Then add salt, boiled warm water, and then mix everything thoroughly. The last flour is introduced, which will need to be sieved beforehand, as this will save it from particles of debris and saturate it with oxygen.The dough of these ingredients must be kneaded for 10-15 minutes, it should be tight and elastic. Then put it in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and leave for 30 minutes.

Step 2: fillet preparation

Take the fillet, rinse it thoroughly under running water, place on a chopping board and cut into small cubes. After that, heat the vegetable oil in a skillet, put the chopped meat there, add salt and spices, and then fry over medium heat until golden brown.

Step 3: Preparing Vegetables

Take the cabbage and chop it, and then put it in a bowl. Fresh cucumbers washed and cut into strips. Rinse the tomatoes and cut into half rings, which must be thin.

Step 4: Baking Pita

Cut dough for pita bread into 4 pieces. Each of them roll into a thin layer. Next, take a baking sheet, sprinkle it with a small amount of flour. Then preheat the oven to 160 degrees. Lay out dough sheets on a baking sheet and send to bake for 2 minutes, then remove, gently turn them over with the other side and let stand for another 2 minutes.Put the prepared pitas on top of each other, wrap with plastic wrap and leave for a while. This is necessary so that they limp.

Step 5: Laying the Filling

Carefully mix the pita breads with mayonnaise first, then with ketchup, then peel the garlic and pass through the press. Spread the resulting mass over the smeared pita breads. Then put on them fillet, then cabbage, pre-chopped greens and Korean carrots, and in the end - tomatoes and cucumbers. Vegetable layers are recommended a little salt. Their surface can be slightly smeared with mayonnaise. After that, roll each pita with an envelope and fry a little in a frying pan without oil before serving them to the table.
