How to whiten tulle at home?

If the tulle is soiled, it will immediately ruin the look of the window. Is it possible to somehow clean and refresh it, but at the same time save the fabric?

Special Tools

For bleaching and removing dirt, you can use special tools that are usually sold in stores. These may be powders, bleaches or stain removers. The easiest, most affordable and inexpensive option is whiteness.

But it is worth remembering that it contains aggressive ingredients that can literally corrode the fibers of the fabric, and also leaves an unpleasant smell, which is not easy to remove.

Choosing any tool, consider the material from which the curtains are made. In addition, be sure to read the information on the packaging of the powder or stain remover. Be sure to follow the instructions given by the manufacturer. Do not exceed the indicated dosages and time intervals.

If you decide to wash the curtain in a washing machine, then be extremely careful, as machine wash can damage the fabric.Finding out whether such a procedure would be detrimental will help, again, the label of tulle and the information on it.

Folk remedies

How can whiten tulle?

We offer several proven recipes:

  • Nylon tulle or organza curtains and other delicate materials are best bleached with starch. In a basin with warm water, dissolve about a glass of starch. Stir the mixture thoroughly to avoid lumps. After the usual wash, dip the tulle into the starch mixture for 20 or 30 minutes, then rinse in warm water. The curtain treated in this way will not only become fresh and clean, but will also keep its shape for a long time.
  • If you want to freshen up white tulle, then you can use a proven tool for generations - bluing. Dissolve the blue cap in the basin with warm water and stir it well so that not a single lump is left (this can lead to stains on the material). After washing and primary rinsing, immerse the tulle in a basin with blue for a few minutes, then remove, flatten and place on a flat horizontal surface, leaving it there until completely dry.
  • You can use ordinary household or other soap, which is suitable for washing light curtains. But the tulle will have to boil, so this method is definitely not suitable for "capricious" materials. Put on the fire a basin of water. Rub on a grater about half a piece of soap. When water boils, dissolve soapy chips in it, then place the tulle in the basin. An hour later, shoot the fire. When the liquid cools, wring out the curtain and rinse well in warm water.
  • Laundry soap can be used in another way, which is suitable for more delicate fabrics. First, dissolve a glass of soap shavings in a liter of boiling water. Dilute the resulting concentrated solution with warm or cool water, immerse the tulle in it and leave overnight. Sutra just rinse the curtain thoroughly in clean warm or cool water.
  • In a half glass, dissolve the potassium permanganate solution to form a pink solution. Add the mixture to the basin with water, rinse the curtain soaped with soap, rinse it with clean water, and then put it to dry on a horizontal surface.
  • For whitening tulle at home, you can use the most common table salt. There are two ways to do this.First: just dissolve a glass of rock salt in a basin with water, put a curtain in the solution, leave it for half an hour, then hang to dry without squeezing. The second way: dissolve a handful of laundry detergent and a glass of salt in a basin of hot water. Soak the tulle in the resulting solution overnight, then rinse well.
  • Try using ammonia and hydrogen peroxide for bleaching. In a container of hot water (about 60 degrees), add 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide (3%), as well as a tablespoon of ammonia. Mix everything well and immerse the tulle in the solution for 15 or 20 minutes. Remove the curtain and, without pressing, hang to dry.
  • If you are used to using folk remedies in everyday life, then prepare a little green. Yes, yes, this may seem strange, but it can really help restore whiteness. In a glass of warm water, dissolve 10 or 15 drops of green. If a precipitate forms at the bottom, the solution should be drained through a cloth. Next, fill the basin in which you will rinse the tulle with warm water. After washing and rinsing once, immerse the curtain in the basin for a few minutes, then remove and place on a flat surface to dry. Flush the little green is not necessary.
